Spine Assessment

Accurate measurements are extremely important for Advance Care clinicians to achieve perfect correction and fitting. We use the latest white light 3D scanner to capture precise measurements and make necessary corrections before the manufacturing process.

Scoliosis

Scoliosis is an abnormal curvature in the spine. A side bend was simultaneously attributed to the rotation of individual vertebral bodies. Most scoliosis cases affect 10 times more Girls than boys which can be carefully treated with positive outcomes.

Manufacturing

Our expert CAD designers manufacture the brace digitally and carefully accomplish robotic carving for manufacturing the spine model. This process is done by taking care of every detail in precision.

Spine Curve Types

Scoliosis spine curves are classified based on which of the three regions of the spine is affected – the upper thoracic, main thoracic or thoracolumbar/lumbar. It is also important to know whether the deformity is structural or non-structural.

Trial and Final Fitting

In the process of trial and fitting, it is checked very closely, small corrections are made and the patient gets a chance to try the corset after every change. Post two weeks of experience, we arrange a planned appointment, during which the pressure zones are carefully checked and, if required, padded.

Kyphosis

Kyphosis or hunchback is an inflated outward curve of the spine that results in an unusual rounding of the upper back. This situation can occur at any age, esp. during adolescence. The situation usually halts once a child’s growth process is stopped. Kyphosis resulting in poor posture (postural kyphosis) does not require any treatment and can be corrected on its own by improving posture and performing strengthening exercises. If a child is suffering from kyphosis as a result of abnormally shaped vertebrae (Scheuermann’s kyphosis), then custom brace therapy can be required combined with physiotherapy. Children born with congenital kyphosis often require surgical treatment.

Kyphosis Bracing

Teenagers suffering from mild to moderate kyphosis are medically recommended to wear a custom kyphosis brace. The brace is worn while the bones are still at the development stage which deters the curve from getting worse. Wearing a brace may give a feeling of discomfort initially. However, users get used to them after some period. Advance Care ensures that the braces are designed to be comfortable and aesthetically decent, enabling users to confidently perform routine activities. The users need to continue wearing the brace until reached tone maturity, which is determined based on diagnosis through X-rays.
